Makeup tricks for a fab look!

Makeup tricks for a fab lookThe quest to look good is on since the time of Cleopatra and the competition grows three-fold when we need to attend a wedding. No matter what, we girls can never be completely satisfied with the way we look. So here's three cheers for the genius who someday, somewhere invented make-up! No matter what we want to hide (or enhance), when used the right way, make-up can give miraculous results.

Define your eyes

The first step to striking eyes is defining them with a coloured liner. Chuck your usual black eye pencil for brighter shades like blue and green. If you are not comfortable with loud colours, opt for grey, which looks remarkable on almost everyone. Then, swipe a glittering white shadow on the inner corners of your eyes in a sideways V shape. Crimple the top of your eyelashes so that their tips get closer to your eyebrows - this will make your eyes look bigger. Without delay, lock the curve with lengthening mascara.

Your way to plush lips

Grab a shimmery but colourless lip balm and apply it to the skin just above your cupid's bow (the area below your nose and between the peaks of your top lip). Highlighting that area makes the lips look fuller and larger. Open your mouth wide to make an 'O' and carefully apply a moisturising lipstick. Make sure it has a high-shine finish; matte versions don't reflect light. Now wipe of the balm from the centre of your bottom lip and admire the new you in the mirror.

Chiselled cheeks

To make round cheeks look more chiselled, you need a highlighting powder and a bronzer that's two shades darker than your skin tone. Make a fish face, and dust the bronzer on the hollows of your cheeks. Smile and brush the highlighter from the apples of your cheeks to your temples. The contrasting tones will define and shape the cheekbones for a sexy look.

Get a perfect nose

Oh-so-blunt, oh-so-big and oh-so-pointed nose is the biggest problem of the female clan. To wither a larger or wider nose, apply your usual foundation to your nose and swipe a streak of highlighter down the centre of its bridge and back up in a straight line. The light colour squeezed between the foundation-coated skin will make the sides of your nose appear darker and give a slim effect in seconds.

For a smaller forehead

A big forehead may earn you the reputation of being lucky, but unfortunately it doesn't do much for your looks. Bangs can instantaneously fill the gap between your eyebrows and hairline. But if you don't want to disturb your hairdo, grab a matte bronzer and a big powder brush. Remember that bronzer creates a shadow-effect, helping a large area appear smaller. Swirl bristles into the bronzer and tap off any excess to keep the shade light and natural. Sweep the brush along your hairline from temple to temple several times. Finally, move your brush in a circle to blend.
So, the next time you have to get ready for a sangeet ceremony, cocktail party or a spinster's night , try following a trick or two and voila! You will be surprised by the results. If we can look our best, why shouldn't we?

Applying Makeup Tips - Excellent and Professional Makeup Tips

1-For natural-smoky look, whatever colour your eyeliner pencil is smudge it in tiny circular motions.

2-Give yourself a start with a few ice cubes pressed on your skin for a
finishing natural glow.

3-Always begin with the base, concealer, brows eyes, nose, lips, and then extra's, (i,e start from base, top-bottom)

4-Never use bold pencils for anything, always sharpen for two reasons 1 fast build up of bacteria on tip, 2 wont give any natural definitiion to your finished look, only and Only use bold pencils after running pencil in hot water for a deeper or smudgey look.

5-For accentuated lips, begin with pencil, lipstick, gloss if needed, then
pencil again, blot lips, then lipstick again

6-Comb brows upwards before plucking or colouring in for tweezing the bottom, then cob downwards to tweeze on top.

7-Finish your look with loose powder to soften your look and then spray hairspray into air and walk into it for a long lasting stay.

8-Never EVER sleep in makeup, mascara, concealer, lipstick, or eyeshadow! just wash face even if its with water only.

What Really Makes Babies so Darn Cute?

Judy's baby Emily had a birthday recently, and Judy had a One-year party for her, which was a hoot because all the moms from the Mommy and Me playgroup came and brought their own one-year olds. One of the things Judy says is that it gets a lot harder to maintain your personal style when you live with someone who's constantly emitting various fluids, and the One-year party was a hilarious (for me) combination of drool and cake icing and runny ice cream. Imagine a dozen babies in party clothes, half of them screaming and half mashing cake through their tiny fists, and you have the general idea. Throw in an elegantly-groomed Golden Retriever (who ate a lot of cake off the ground, resulting in a genteel bout of vomiting under the table) and a bunch of Mommies in their own softly-flowered frocks, and you have the whole picture.

Basic tools in your Makeup box

It is a good idea to keep your cosmetics in a box that has compartments for the different items. A dressing-table drawer can also be fitted with compartments. Things will be easy to find and your cosmetics will be protected from dust. Even the greatest of makeup in the world won't look great without the correct makeup tools. For a professional finish you need the right tools. This means investing in a set of good brushes and applicators. Here's your basic cosmetic tool kit .
  1. Makeup Sponge
  2. Fine lip brush
  3. Powder Brush
  4. Eyeshadow Brush
  5. Cotton wool
  6. All-in-one eyelash brush/comb
  7. Lipsticks
  8. Mascara
  9. Eyebrow Tweezers
  10. Eyelash curlers
  11. Powder puff

Make-up Trend: Smudgy Smoky Shadow

On the latest issue of Vogue India, Priyanka rocks a smudgy smoky eye with nude barely there lips. To get her look, lightly sweep charcoal gray eye shadow on your lids, extending and darkening it just above the crease. Then draw it along your lower lash line, softening any harsh lines with your fingers. With your fingers, apply silver eye shadow under your brows for a subtle highlight. Using an angled brush to trace black eye liner on the top and bottom lashes, thickening the line just a bit at the outer corners. Finish off with 3-4 coats of mascara and you're all set.

the best Makeup Tips ever

Makeup Tips

Makeup Tip 1) Use toner on your face first and apply moisturizer, to enable better blending of foundation/concealer.
Makeup Tip 2) Work your foundation onto the face with fingers in circular motions, working one area at a time, say from forehead down one side of face, then down the other side with quick motion. Blend downwards and outwards with a dry sea or makeup sponge.

Makeup Tip 3) Concealer is best applied after foundation - apply small dots where needed and gently pat into the skin, then wipe with a sponge to remove excess. Concealer can be applied with a sponge flusk or lip brush using the tips. If you feel a little more colour is needed add to the spots, and blend again with sponge.

Makeup Tip 4) Use Translucent Loose Powder to set the makeup using a large soft brush and dusting over the face quickly in a downward motion. If the skin is more mature just use powder in the T-Zone of forehead, nose and chin.

Makeup Tip 5) To work out where to apply blusher, place finger along bottom of cheekbone and apply blusher in soft circular motions above that area. Never apply below the bottom of cheekbones, nor past a line from the centre of your eyes.

Makeup Tip 6) For a lighter much more natural look, after loading blush onto brush, tap end of brush lightly against your hand to remove excess, then apply.

Makeup Tip 7) Foundation over the eye lids provides a smooth matt base and it helps stop creasing.

Makeup Tip 8) Go for a "no-colour" eye shadow as a base, like a soft creamy shade "highligher" and place this on lids up to brow bone. For most eye shapes the dark colors needs to be used on outer eye area and/or in crease. If you use too much, add a little "no colour" or translucent powder.

Makeup Tip 9) Don't use colors to match your clothes, go for colors that suit you. Using neutral, smudgy colors will flatter your face and try to avoid mauve, and real pinky shades.

Makeup Tip 10) Eyeliner should be applied close to base of eyelashes to make them look thicker. A soft pencil is easier to manage.

Eye Shadows - Applying Eye Shadow

Eye Shadows - Applying Eye Shadow

Application of eye shadow? - Eye Makeup

The color of the eye shadow is be chosen carefully. To enhance the eye color, the area under the brow should be shadowed in a lighter shade. A deeper shade of eye shadow should be applied on eyelids according to the dress color. Eye shadow can be applied with a foam tipped stick and then blended gently with the finger tips upward and outward.

Two shades of the same color eye shadow or a contrast can be used at the same time. Dark color eye shadow should be nearest to the middle and upper area of the eye.

The following points should be kept in mind before choosing an eye shadow:

For day time. eye shadow should match your eyes or be one shade lighter.
Bright and contrast colored eye shadows are better suited to evening wear.
For mature women. lightening the area under the eyebrows makes the eyes look bigger and brighter. White, off white and ivory shades are best for this purpose.
Dark eye shadows look good only on younger women with smooth eyelids.

Complexion Care in Winter - Makeup Tips

Winter is dreaded by many because usually it brings a challenge to every complexion, but you can look your best if you take a few precautions. During the winter months your complexion needs extra care and attention because the oil glands just below the surface of the skin become relatively inactive and produce less moisture than usual. This and the increased dryness of the skin due to the drying effects of the sun and the wind are responsible for causing the tiny wrinkles and giving rise to various skin ailments like scaling, itching, chapping and eczema.

The best way, however, to counteract these ailments is to dispense with the use of soap completely, because it has been known to have a marked degreasing action on the skin. Instead, clean your face with milk cream or top-of-milk blended with a few drops of lime juice and a pinch of turmeric powder. Excessive use of cosmetics, hair dyes and sprays, too many hot baths and perfumes also make the hair dry. Every night before going to bed, take one tablespoon of milk cream and mix in a few drops each of glycerine, olive oil and rose water. Mix well and apply over your entire face, neck and hands. Leave overnight; in the morning wipe off gently with a tissue paper, then bathe the skin in warm water until it begins to feel warm and also rinse for the same length of time in cold water. Pat dry with a soft towel.

Also, massage your body well with olive or coconut oil blended with a few drops of rose water 10 minutes before your bath to make your skin soft and glowing. If dryness has resulted in scaling, take foods rich in vitamin A, because this vitamin is stored in the fat just below the surface of the skin counteracting any tendency towards dryness and roughness. In case the scaling is quite severe, also take this vitamin in the form of tablets but as this vitamin sometimes produces toxic effects in the body if taken indiscriminately, it should only be taken under medical supervision.

Another common skin ailment in winter is eczema. Initially the surface of the skin becomes red but later it turns dry, rough and scaly. Here are two effective remedies for this ailment. Grind a walnut to a paste, squeeze out its oil and apply on the affected parts a few times daily. In case this does not give relief, try this remedy.

Take a dry coconut and hold it with a pair of tongs over a burning flame. When its skin turns completely black and while it is still burning, place it on a tin-plate and cover it immediately with a small vessel. Remove it after a few seconds and you will find a layer of oil on the vessel. Rub this on the affected parts twice daily and within a week you will find definite relief in your condition. Itching too is a common complaint during this weather. Take a tablespoon of sandalwood oil and mix in an equal quantity of coconut oil. Apply on the itching parts of the body a couple of times daily until you get relief. The juice of Basil leaves is also equally effective.
Another type of itching which is very severe is known as winter's itch. This is usually due to the excessive dryness of the skin. It is also due to wearing too many woolen garments, too many hot baths, too little sun, lack of sweating, too much use of soaps and scent and dietary deficiencies. Arms and legs are commonly affected by it. To minimize winter's itch, every day an hour before taking your bath take two tablespoons each of curd and olive oil and mix in a few drops of essence of rose. Mix well and apply on the body an hour before you take your bath. Abstain from wearing woolens next to the body. Reduce hot baths and. the use of the soap to the minimum. Take vitamin A in the form of tablets and expose yourself to the sun for at least an hour daily. It automatically disappears in the warm weather because perspiration caused by the heat helps to keep the skin soft and moist.
If the skin on the soles of your feet becomes hard and cracked, rub the soles at bath time with soapy water and pumice stone. After bathing be sure to dry the feet well especially between the toes to prevent cracking. Massage them well with olive or coconut oil to keep the skin soft and smooth and to help the circulation of blood. After exposure to cold, take a foot bath using warm water and soap. Wipe dry, massage them vigorously for five minutes and then wear woolen socks. This is very important to prevent chilblains.
If your lips happen to chap, peel or crack, here is an effective remedy.
Take a rose flower and grind the petals to a paste. Mix in a little cream of milk and apply it generously on the lips before going to bed in the night. This will help keep the lips soft and pretty. Dry, itchy skin around the mouth is a common complaint during winter. Vitamin B tablets will help in this case. To protect your hands from rash and chapping wear a pair of rubber gloves when doing household chores. Every night before going to bed take an equal quantity of lime juice, glycerine, rose water and Cologne and apply nicely on the hands and after you finish your household chores rub glycerine and sugar on them for a couple of minutes and then wash off. This will help keep them soft and smooth.
Winter plays havoc with the hair, making it dry, brittle and dull. To bring a healthy shine to your hair, take some warm coconut oil, make partings along the hair and dab it along each parting with your finger-tips. Continue in this way till the whole scalp has been oiled, then wrap hot towels over the head to keep the scalp as warm as possible. After half an hour when the scalp has absorbed oil, wash the hair with shikakai and water Hair can never be completely clean and shiny until it is rinsed thoroughly-it should squeak at your touch.
Use a moisturized foundation to protect your ,skin against the harsh effects of the cold weather. Touch up your lips with warm, creamy colors. Pale lipsticks will make you look pale and sickly in this weather. Add lip gloss or a little vaseline to keep your lips soft and pretty.
Also follow a healthy diet scheme to enable your body to fight against the many ills of winter and to put an attractive bloom in your cheeks.
